Casa Ali ~ Feb food gatherings at the London supper club

Just returned from my holiday season in Italy and having sampled some fantastic home cooking and Tuscan, Milanese and Roman cuisines, here I am, imagination ignited for the winter.

Fruit cake for my 50th
Fruit cake for my 50th birthday

10th Feb: 12.30 – 3.30 pm Vegetarian 5 course menu @ £32 per person + photographic portraits with a custom-built ring light. Seven guests only.

14th Feb: 6.30 – 100.00 pm Valentines menu of seven courses @ £60 per person + a special portrait session for the couples + a foot massage. Two couples only.

Teaching an old dog new tricks is tedious, though my relationship with food keeps getting better as I grow older. On my 50th, I attempted making a gluten-free, non-baked cake. Call it cake, call it pudding, as you wish, it looked like one and tasted like none other – an inverted fruit cake.  Ann, my 78 year old neighbour, who is rather finicky in her tastes, looked at the cake with glee in her eyes and said, “it’s looking good Ali, it better taste the same too! By the way I don’t take well to gelatin”. I explained that the cake had agar instead and she squinted her eyes for a moment… “where do you buy these exotic ingredients from?” London I LOVE you, you have it all!! My sixteen year old nephew approved, mum suggestions for improving it and Ann… she asked if she could have a second helping! By the way I buy my agar from See Woo.

Having thought long and hard, January being too short a time notice, I am keeping the following two dates for February.

For those worrying about the extra pounds gained during the christmas holidays, my cooking is lean, mean, nourishing and tickles the taste buds. Casa Ali is not just about my cooking or the new tastes, textures and colour alone. It’s a wholesome experience and you, the guest, brings a sense of openness which makes it special. Let me reiterate, LOVE is the essential ingredient at Casa Ali. Bring plenty along.

Love and More Love!

We got to share not only art food, here, at Casa Ali we got to share a piece of our hearts, culture, smiles and genuinely good times.

I’m looking forward for the 14th of February Casa Ali supper club event where great people can yet again eat, connect and have a brilliant time!
