As with most supper clubs, the idea is not to reproduce a restaurant experience. At Casa Ali you can expect nutritious and gluten-free food cooked with love, soaked in warm vivacious conversations and served in his open plan kitchen / dining room without pretension. Guests can watch the food being prepared. Ali sources his food locally and supports small grocers, butchers and fishmongers. Summer time affords foraged herbs and berries, and organic vegetables that he grows on his nearby allotment. The cooking comes from the heart as Ali takes inspiration from many cuisines and cultures and often dreams up his dishes. The ingredients are not exorbitant though the combinations are priceless. At times guest chefs contribute and the gatherings are fun!
Tickets
The table cosily sits 8. Costs on average are £35 for a 5-course meal. Depending on the season, the menu is finalised couple weeks in advance and posted on the blog with links to purchasing the tickets. The exact address is given automatically once you complete your on-line purchase. You can subscribe to the blog and get on the mailing list to get regular updates. Alcohol is not provided. There are welcome drinks ‘on-the-house’ and good old tap water. You can bring your own drinks to enjoy before, during and after your meal. The fridge on these occasions is full of food, but we try our best to keep your drinks chilled.
When/where
- Casa Ali gatherings take place, first and third week of each month, four times in a month on fridays and saturdays. Vegetarian menus for saturday and mixed menus for friday dinners.
- Casa Ali is a short walk from Norwood Junction. Check the MAP for approximate location. There is free parking in the street.
