Fine Art Photography

Being myopic my natural gift is to seek the intricate and appreciate the subtle nuances. Of course with the corrective lenses I enjoy panoramas and broad brush strokes, my inclination is intimacy of visual narratives. The photography genres are enormously overlapped, yet I call this folio fine art, because first and foremost, these images are a source of pleasure for my self. In the words of Francis Bacon, “I have looked at far more photographs than I have paintings. Because their reality is stronger than reality it self.”

Drawing was my first love. Back in the eighties I used to draw very well and my drawings were very lifelike. I got into *National College of Arts on that basis. Several senior fine art students would come to me asking to correct ears, hands and feet in their drawings. And then, my brother gifted me Pentax MX. My first 35mm manual camera and I was addicted to it instantly… totally fell in love with the medium. Initially it was more of documentary style work and I photographed every day moments, people, landscapes, still life… you name it I did it. The advertising agency where I worked recognised my passion and soon illustration assignments were replaced with photographic ones.

Since I could use the camera and understand film and printing, photography is my idiom and expression. Whether it is performance for camera with people as my subject, still life, nature or architecture, I render the feelings, poetics and sensuality before me in a two-dimensional form. Making these images bind the fragments of my thought, feeling, and memory; and saying things that I can’t express in any other way.

Here is just a small choice of images, in months to come, I shall create a more thorough gallery. Most of my images are available as limited signed prints in three sizes, 12″ x 16″, 16″ x 20″ and 20″x 30″.
